Richard Cahan is co-author of Un-American, the powerful photo-history of one of America’s defining moments.
In the spring of 1942, the United States rounded up 109,000 residents of Japanese ancestry living along the West Coast and sent them to detention centers for the duration of World War II. Amazingly, the government hired a crew of photographers to document the entire process—from the final weeks of freedom to the desolate years in camps. Among these were famed photographers Dorothea Lange and Ansel Adams. Cahan will be available to sign books following the presentation.
Wrote Booklist magazine of Un-American: “The result is an intensely revelatory and profoundly resonant book of beauty and strength, history and caution.”
