Bigfoot is an idea seeking evidence. The fact that 100s of Americans see bigfoot every year gives us a glimpse into the nature of belief.
In this talk, Dr. Troy Swanson will use bigfoot as an entry point to the larger discussion about how our brains interpret information and what this tells us about how we understand fake news. This talk will challenge audience members to examine their own perspectives and how this shapes their views on the world.
Troy A. Swanson is Teaching & Learning Librarian and Library Department Chair at Moraine Valley Community College. Troy is the author or editor of several books and articles including co-editor of Not Just Where to Click: Teaching Students How to Think About Information which received the Ilene F.
