Join John Lynn on a bicycle trip following the 1000 mile route from Fort Bridger, WY to Sacramento, CA taken by the Donner-Reed Party.
Follow the ill-fated Donner-Reed Party of Springfield, Illinois on its way to California in 1846-47. Leave the Oregon Trail at Fort Bridger, Wyoming, take the Hastings Cutoff across Utah to the Humboldt River in Nevada, the main line of the California Trail across Nevada to the Truckee Meadows (now Reno), and the Truckee River Route to the Alder Creek and Donner Lake camps. Settle in for the long, grim winter in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Finally, follow the rescued survivors on the last stage of their journey up and over Donner Pass Summit to Sutter’s Fort in Sacramento.
Armchair Travels is generously funded with a gift from the Rutherford Family Trust.
