Chicago Architecture Center docent Kevin Griebenow will share about his time in Yemen serving as a Peace Corps volunteer.
Kevin was raised in Rochester, Minnesota where he graduated with a civil engineering degree. Having determined that he was not ready for a 9 to 5 job following a job interview in Chicago, he became a volunteer with the Peace Corps. He served a two-year tour in Yemen building water supply systems for villages. After returning to the States, he found employment back in Chicago with the federal government. He has worked for the US Army Corps of Engineers, Federal Emergency Management Agency, and the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. While living in Chicago with his interest in architecture, he became a docent with the Chicago Architecture Center (CAC). For more 25 than years he has lead tour groups of students, teachers, families, engineers and the public with the City as the museum. He has lectured on engineering innovations in Chicago’s skyscrapers, history of dams, living in Yemen, hydrology and the Columbian Exposition.
