Empowerment Doll Workshop for Teens and Adults
Ages 12+
Tuesday, August 06
1:00pm - 2:30pm
Wilmette Public Library
AuditoriumJoin teaching artist, creativity coach and doll maker Victoria Reeves in a workshop to hand-sew and embellish your own empowerment doll.
In this 1.5 hour workshop, Teaching Artist, Creativity Coach and Doll Maker Victoria Reeves will teach you how to hand-sew and embellish your own Empowerment Doll. Victoria has taught in schools, community centers and museums around Chicagoland. She also sells her own Empowerment Dolls at local art fairs and teaches her Creativity Lab course online.
Each Empowerment Doll has an inspirational message and intention. What (one word) message would you like your doll to express? We will think of these ideas as we design and make our dolls.
First you will choose from an array of brightly-colored doll forms, heads (complete with many shades of skin), hair, buttons, beads and trim. Then you'll stuff your doll, hand-sew the head to the body, add hair, draw on the face and embellish it with trim, buttons and beads. Finally, you’ll write a positive message on the back and give your unique doll a name. Put it in a special place at home, as a reminder that you are powerful and wonderful!
