Presented by the Center for Better Aging at St. Bernard Hospital and the Alzheimer's Association
Smyl Fitness offers a comprehensive fall-risk experience designed to educate, empower, and support older adults in staying safe and independent. They begin with a 30-minute presentation covering common fall-risk factors, simple lifestyle modifications, home-safety strategies, a live demonstration of how to get up safely after a fall, and information about Alzheimer's Association resources.
Following the presentation, participants are invited to stay for a personalized fall-risk review, which includes:
Screenings: A 20-question yes/no survey assessing fall-risk level, physical activity habits, frailty indicators, and homebound status.
Assessment: A 30-second chair stand test measuring leg strength and mobility, key predictors of fall risk.
Participants will leave with practical, individualized recommendations to help reduce their fall risk and improve everyday function.
