Join artist Tonika Lewis Johnson to discuss the Folded Map Project, an interactive photographic study of corresponding addresses at Chicago's North and South Side that highlights urban segregation.
Tonika Lewis Johnson is a photographer and visual artist and life-long resident of Chicago's South Side. What started as a photographic study evolved into a multimedia exploration with video interviews, a large-scale interactive map exhibition, and a web site. The project invites audiences to open a dialogue and question how we are all impacted by social, racial, and institutional conditions that segregate the city. At this program, we will learn more about this exciting project and gain a better understanding of how our urban environment is structured and how we can contribute to a solution.
