Everyday actions can leave anyone open to identity theft, and consumers can fall prey to many types of fraud or unfair business transactions. The Illinois Attorney General’s Office will present tips to prevent identity theft, ways to restore your financial profile if it happens to you, and how they protect your consumer rights and how to obtain assistance when things go wrong.
Attorney General Kwame Raoul’s outreach team will help residents:
- Recognize common scams and their many variations
- Set up fraud alerts, security freezes, and opt-outs
- Report scams and manage the situation
- Be on the lookout for the latest scams
- Protect yourself from deceptive practices
- Understand consumer rights and actions against fraud
