Edith Rockefeller McCormick was an unusual woman: fiercely intellectual, opinionated, and often prickly. Without her, we may not have the Brookfield Zoo, Chicago opera or a cure for scarlet fever.
Join us for a two-woman show presented by Ellie Carlson and author Andrea Frederici Ross. Ross recounts this tumultuous life in Edith: The Rogue Rockefeller McCormick (Southern Illinois University Press, August 2020).
In this special presentation, Ross will team up with historical re-enactor Ellie of ElliePresents to produce a two-woman show about Edith. Ellie will walk off the page as Edith to join Andrea as she discusses her book and the extraordinary life it portrays. Join us for this insider’s look at Edith Rockefeller McCormick and to hear her “opinions” on how she has been portrayed by history. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A.
Copies of the book will be available for sale and signing by the author at the program.
