Join us for a classical concert with the Blue Violet Duo, featuring violinist Kate Carter and pianist Louise Chan.
The Chicago-based duo was born of a friendship and musical kinship and enjoyed immediate recognition, winning a competition that led to their performance in Carnegie's Weill Hall in New York in February of 2014. Their 2018 debut album, American Souvenirs, was selected as WFMT's "New Release of the Day" in October 2018.
At today's program, titled "Cross-Pollination", the Blue Violet Duo performs a colorful assortment of works inspired by nature, including rarely-performed works by Irene Britton Smith and Rebecca Clarke, and a new work written for the duo by Chicago-based Amos Gillespie.
