Enjoy a recital with the 2025 Northbrook Public Library Youth Solo Competition winners, violinist Alison Chung and pianist Robert Tang.
Alison Chung, a rising senior at Glenbrook North High School, began her violin studies at the age of six with Betty Haag-Kuhnke and Yonghee Hong-Park, and currently studies with Desirée Ruhstrat. She is a grand prize winner of the 2025 Northbrook Public Library Youth Solo Competition and has appeared as a soloist with the Northeastern Illinois University Symphony Orchestra and the Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra. Alison is co-concertmaster of the Midwest Young Artist Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, concertmaster of the Glenbrook Symphony Orchestra, and a two-time Illinois All-State Honors Orchestra violinist. A passionate chamber musician, she performs with Quartetto Speranza, an award-winning ensemble competing at the 2025 Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition. Outside of music, Alison enjoys painting, reading, and playing golf with her younger brother.
Robert Tang,12, is a7th grader from Maple School, Northbrook, IL. He started to play piano when he was 6 years old, and currently studies with Weiwen Ma from Christopher Lauhglin School of Music. The early experiences in Merit School of Music in Chicago helped shape his musical journey. Outside of music, Robert stays active playing club soccer, and in his free time, he loves volunteering to coach little kids soccer in his community, playing video games, and Rubik's cubes.
