Steve Darnall is a nationally known radio historian, writer, and presenter. Since 2005, he has been the publisher of Nostalgia Digest and, since 2009, the host of Those Were the Days, a long-running radio show celebrating the Golden Age of Radio. A lifelong fan of classic broadcasts, Steve first discovered vintage radio at age 12 and began his own radio journey shortly after, eventually reviving his high school show Radio’s Golden Age in 2023 on KXEL-AM.
Steve’s career spans broadcasting, comic books, and journalism. He’s written for publications such as Chicago Tribune and Hero Illustrated, collaborated with Alex Ross on DC Comics’ Uncle Sam, and served as a radio consultant on Ken Burns’ Country Music and the film Being the Ricardos. With humor, history, and a deep appreciation for classic audio storytelling, Steve Darnall brings radio’s rich legacy vividly to life.
