Take a musical journey around the world with saxophonist Andrew Carpenter. The program will encompass music from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Australia.
This dynamic program takes a musical journey across five continents, showcasing the rich diversity of global artistry. From Alessandro Marcello’s refined Italian Concerto to Jean Francaix's Five Exotic Dances featuring sounds from South America and the Caribbean, Australian native Percy Grainger’s spirited Molly on the Shore, and Takashi Yoshimatsu’s jazz-inspired Fuzzy Bird Sonata from Japan, each work reflects the unique rhythms and colors of its homeland.
Andrew Carpenter has performed as a saxophone recitalist and soloist throughout the Chicago area and across the United States. His performances have been featured on Chicago’s Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, broadcast on WFMT-FM, and the Fourth Presbyterian Noontime Concert Series. He appears regularly with orchestras throughout the Midwest, including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, the Rockford Symphony Orchestra, and the Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, and has recorded for Naxos with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
A dedicated educator, Mr. Carpenter serves as the saxophone instructor at Carthage College and teaches private students of all ages. He holds a Bachelor of Music from Ithaca College and a Master of Music from Northwestern University.
