Expert travelers Rich Stein and Maria Diecidue will share the history and character of Brooklyn.
New York City often brings Manhattan to mind - its skyscrapers, financial district, Times Square, and Broadway. However, Brooklyn, just across the East River, is a major borough with 2.5 million residents. Founded by Dutch settlers in 1624, Brooklyn was once an independent city, played a role in the Revolutionary War, and has been home and final resting place to celebrities, artists, and notable figures. A proverbial melting pot of world cultures, it is known for its diverse cultural heritage, reflecting European, African, Caribbean, and Asian influences.
Rich Stein and Maria Diecidue are both native New Yorkers. Although currently long-time residents of Chicago, their love of, and affection for New York and particularly Brooklyn persists.
