Begin researching the origins of your home during this workshop at the Wilmette Public Library.

Learn about researching the history of your Wilmette home from local historian and author Julia Johnas and local history librarian EvaAnne Johnson.

Are you curious about the history of your house? When was it built? What style is it? Who were the original owners? Author and local historian Julia Johnas presents an illustrated step-by-step program on how to research the history of your house. She served for more than 20 years as the research liaison to the Highland Park Historic Preservation Commission.

The second portion of the workshop will give you hands-on access to maps, ownership indexes, and other resources available in the Wilmette Public Library's local history room. Bring your own laptop or use a library computer to start researching the history of your house online. The presenter Julia Johnas and local history librarian EvaAnne Johnson will be available to answer your questions and help you start your research.

This program has been tailored specifically for those researching properties in Wilmette and its surrounding communities.

Registration is required for this in-person workshop.
