Wilmette resident jazz violinist Diane Delin and her Quartet will celebrate the Sesquicentennial in a performance inspired and influenced by themes of community, unity and intercultural connection. The Quartet’s musicians have performed together for decades, touring nationally and internationally, as well as appearing on numerous recordings. Performances have included WTTW PBS Centerstage Live Broadcast, Chicago Jazz Festival, Ireland’s Cork Guinness Jazz Festival, Sunset-Sunside in Paris, Jazz Ahead in Bremen Germany, New Orlean’s Snug Harbor, Chicago’s Jazz Showcase, the Kingston New York Jazz Festival, Taste of Chicago, among many, many others.
Diane Delin is a violinist, composer, recording artist, producer and educator, and resident of Wilmette for the past 11 years. Her jazz work has earned her the Downbeat Magazine’s Critics Poll “Rising Star” category four times. She has toured and performed internationally with her groups, and has also toured with Frank Sinatra and his Orchestra, played with Ray Charles, Brian Wilson, Garth Brooks, Manhattan Transfer, Warren Haynes, and many others as a section player. Delin has five recordings on the Blujazz label, all of which have settled on the U.S. national jazz charts. Her fifth, “Offerings for a Peaceable Season,” reached #5 on the U.S. national jazz radio charts and was selected by national NPR to be in the top ten seasonal jazz cds released to date. Her third release was named in the top 10 Chicago artist releases of the year by the Chicago Sun-Times.
In addition to performing, Delin has been an adjunct professor at Columbia College Chicago since 2004, where she has been teaching jazz, classical, folk and pop strings. She also has a private teaching studio in her Wilmette home. Her history also includes serving as a Governor on the board of The Grammys, appearing on the tv show Empire, subbing for Chicago’s Grant Park Symphony, playing with pop orchestras, playing festivals, concerts and live radio broadcasts with folk groups, and performing for weddings, corporate events, and local Presidential events.
