Learn about the origin and history of soap-making and handcraft your own custom soap with Soapy Roads of Lombard. Materials will be provided.
Craft your own natural soap with botanicals made with clays and plants for color and essential oils for fragrance. Did you know you can color soap with spinach, flowers or even chocolate? We have a delightful sampling of botanicals that will naturally color your soap, provide dynamic properties, and do no harm to our waterways, all at the same time. Mother earth provides a breathtaking color and fragrance palette! There is never any need for harmful chemicals or harsh detergents in your soap.
The soap base is an organic goat's milk made from only 8 ingredients: coconut oil, palm oil, safflower oil, glycerin, liquid goat's milk, sorbitol (for moisture), purified water and sodium hydroxide.
While the soaps harden we will learn about the history and origins of soap-making. Once soaps are hardened we will package them for safekeeping or gift-giving with a compostable cling wrap made from plant starch, then seal them with a compostable custom sticker made from sugarcane.
The entire service provided by Soapy Roads is zero waste. All disposable items are fully biodegradable and compostable, including the handcrafted soap and packaging. We are committed to natural soap-making techniques and avoid single use plastics wherever possible
