Celebrate Women's History Month with a concert with Sapphire Woodwind Quintet featuring female composers through the ages.
Join the Sapphire Woodwind Quintet as we explore the often overlooked and unappreciated world of female composers from the 9th Century until today. Through this multimedia presentation you will hear their beautiful music, including several original arrangements by the quintet, and understand the obstacles these women faced and how they overcame them to earn their place in history.
Sapphire Woodwind Quintet has been entertaining audiences with eclectic programs since 2004. Sapphire has performed on concert series all over Chicagoland, including the Dame Myra Hess Memorial Concert Series, Mostly Music Chicago, the Nineteenth Century Club, and the Noontime Concerts at the University of Chicago. Sapphire has also been broadcast live on WFMT performing at Preston Bradley Hall.
