Listen to a book created by a New Trier High School student about how local Alaskans saved their land. Afterwards, kids will be inspired to enact change in their own community with an activity.
New Trier High School student Logan Dubansky researched and wrote a children’s book about Bristol Bay, Alaska detailing the advocacy and resilience of Bristol residents and how they saved their land. Bristol is home to a pristine wilderness that was threatened with the prospect of a mine which would pollute and destroy the wildlife and way of life for Native Alaskans. After the reading, Logan will lead an activity and show kids what they can do to make a positive impact on their world.
