Whether celebrating Pride Month, or teaching kids its history and relevance, this program is for you. We’ll model using picture books to engage with kids about social issues and community building.
In anticipation of Pride Month in June, learn about books and activities that will help you engage with kids about community, empathy, and supporting one another. Pride Month recognizes the impact that LGBTQ+ individuals have had on history. Many events are held throughout the month of June, but the theme is carried throughout the year as we strive to better understand one another, be good allies, and make positive change in our classrooms and communities. In partnership with District 39 PTAs, this program will model how picture books can create a safe, affirming space for talking with children about the meaning of Pride and how it can bring our community together.
Children 4 and older can enjoy a storytime and craft in the Youth Program Room while adults attend the program.
