Cellist Alexa Muhly holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music and a Master of Music degree from the Yale School of Music. She has performed extensively in the United States, Canada, England, France, Germany, Hungary, and Lithuania, and is an active orchestral and chamber musician in the Chicago area. In recent seasons, she was the principal cellist of the Kalamazoo Symphony, and also appeared with the Grand Rapids Symphony and the Pine Mountain Music
Cassidy Smith, mezzo soprano, is an active member of the Chicago music community, and can be seen regularly with the Grant Park Chorus, Chicago Symphony Chorus, Music of the Baroque, and other choral ensembles around Chicagoland. Passionate about bringing classical music to wider audiences, Cassidy has performed with Opera Colorado and Opera for the Young in outreach productions of Carmen, The Barber of Seville, and Pirates of Penzance. Cassidy received a Bachelor of Music and Performance Certificate from the University of Denver, and a Professional Diplomain Opera from Chicago College of Performing Arts.
Pianist Mio Isoda-Hagle has been heard in concerts as soloist and chamber musician throughout her native Japan, as well as the United States, France, Belgium, and England. Mio’s studies were at the Juilliard School, Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, Conservatoire National Superieur de Danse et de Musique de Paris, where she received the Premier Prix in 1991, and the Mannes College of Music, where she completed her Master’s Degree as a student of Jacob Lateiner. Mio teaches at the Merit School of Music in Chicago, and performs by herself, in chamber music, and as a duo with her husband, Matthew Hagle.
Thomas Clippert savors the wide variety of music available for the guitar, from the early Renaissance to the present day repertoire. His performing career regularly includes solo and chamber music as well as the vast world of improvised music. Tom is a graduate of the Yale School of Music where he studied with Benjamin Verdery and was awarded the Eliot Fisk Guitar Prize. Tom is a founding faculty member at Chicago High School for the Arts, a featured artist at the Interlochen Acoustic Guitar Retreat, and a faculty member at Oakton College
