Actor/painter Jim Parks portrays Claude Monet and tells stories of his struggles & obsessions, dishes about other Impressionists like Renoir and Degas, and portrays life in 1860s Paris.
Actor/artist Jim Parks puts “The Magic Beret” on his head, and transforms into Claude Monet, a big name in Impressionism in Paris’s late 1800s. ”Monet” relives his struggle against the repressive French Art Establishment, and how he and his revolutionary friends (with names like Renoir, Degas, and Pizzaro) endured public revulsion and derision, but went on to become France’s most celebrated superstars. Along the way, Monet evokes the sights and sounds of Paris in 1860, and dishes the dirt on some of art’s most hallowed superstars.
The program is enhanced by some 70 tiny handmade replicas of Impressionist Era art, which are used to illustrate the color and vitality of Impressionism.
